Mr. Richards, a 40-year-old statistician at Red Carpet Rosters, a fantasy league site for film awards, has been betting on the Oscars since 2016. Before his trip to the New Jersey truck stop, he had already wagered $2,750 on this year’s awards. CNN —The founder and boss of gambling company Bet365 earned a salary of around $281 million (£221 million) in the last financial year – ending March 26, 2023. Denise Coates, the joint-chief executive and majority shareholder of Bet365, also earned at least 50% of the company’s $127 million (£100 million) in dividends on top of her $281 million salary, company accounts published on Sunday show. Her base salary is an increase of about $10 million compared to last year, even as Bet365 made pre-tax losses of around $77 million (£60.2 million). The Coates family was also estimated by the Sunday Times to be the UK’s second-highest tax payer in 2023, contributing around $585 million (£460 million). Last year, the club incurred pre-tax losses of $15.8 million (£12.4 million).

There's a new top dog in US online gambling. DraftKings edged out rival FanDuel for the largest portion of online gambling market share in the US, according to a Wednesday report from the market research firm Eilers & Krejcik Gaming. DraftKings had amassed about 31% of online gambling gross gaming revenue in the third quarter through August 23, while FanDuel's market-share lead had dipped to 30%. But DraftKings' share has steadily grown steadily since, per the report. FanDuel, meanwhile, has fallen from a Q1 2023 peak of 37% online gambling share.

Nov 3 (Reuters) - Australia's financial crime watchdog on Thursday ordered an audit of Sportsbet, the country's largest online betting house operated by Flutter Entertainment (FLTRF.L), and British gambling firm Bet365 to assess their compliance with financing laws.
